Target rules:New Zealand journalist pregnant during coverage of Taliban occupation in Afghanistan, entry ban in her country - help from Taliban

Charlotte Bellis, a pregnant journalist from New Zealand, is stuck in Afghanistan these days. Kovid rules in New Zealand are very strict and due to this many Kiwi citizens like Belis are present in other countries, but they are not getting permission to return to their country. Now these people have formed their own organization 'Grounded Kiwis' and through this they are opposing the Jacinda Ardern government. For the time being, aid has been provided by the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

What is the matter
Bellis is in news for the second time in 7 months. Last year she went to Afghanistan, when America was pulling out its troops from there. There the Taliban had been captured and during that time Bellis was working for the Aljazeera TV channel. The headquarter of this channel is in Qatar. Then wearing a scarf on his head, Bellis asked Taliban leaders tough questions about the Taliban giving rights to women and girls. Now she is pregnant and the government of her country is not ready to allow her to return to the country.

A story of pain told through a pen,
Bellis wrote a column in 'The New Zealand Herald' telling how difficult she is going through. 35-year-old Bellis wrote – I am stuck in Afghanistan and the Taliban are helping me here. The reason for this is the Kovid and Quarantine rules applicable in our country.

Martin Newbel, a spokesman for the Grounded Kiwis organization, said – Why Belis, hundreds of New Zealanders are stranded in another country. We are raising our voice, but no one is ready to listen. Is this civilization and human rights?

Strictly following the rules,
New Zealand's population is about five million. During the epidemic, only 52 people died here. In the neighboring country of Australia, 4 thousand people have lost their lives due to infection. According to the new rules implemented by the New Zealand government, people returning to the country have to stay in the hotel quarantine for 10 days at their own expense. These hotels are being operated by the army. Hotels are few, so the backlog continues to grow.

Cannot get entry in Qatar
Bellis will give birth to a child in May. She had gone to Qatar in September last year. Here is the headquarters of Al Jazeera. It was here that she learned that she was pregnant with the child of her partner and freelance journalist Jim Hullybrock. Jim works for the New York Times. The problem is that it is a legal offense to become an unmarried mother in Qatar. Therefore, despite all the facilities in Qatar, Bellis cannot live there. He also quit his job in November. Jim is a citizen of Belgium, but Bellis cannot stay there for long. This is the reason why he had to return to Afghanistan. The Taliban also approved for this.

The Taliban asked to lie,
Bellis says – The Taliban have given me permission to come to Afghanistan, but with a directive. He told me - don't tell anyone that you are not married. I sent 59 documents to the New Zealand government asking them to allow me to return as an emergency case. But, it was not possible because of the lottery system.

At the same time, the New Zealand government says that Bellis's application was not correct, our staff is helping him to file a new application. At the same time, Bellis says - being pregnant in Afghanistan is no less than a death sentence. Medical facilities are non-existent here. Last year also a pregnant woman from New Zealand was trapped in America due to these same rules. Grounded Kiwis have challenged the government's rules in court. The matter will be heard on February 14.
